Secrets to Becoming an Effective Designated Safeguarding Lead/Officer (Advanced Refresher course)

This course is for anyone who is currently a Designated Safeguarding Children Lead Officer, or a deputy to that position, and who would like an opportunity to develop their practice, as well as undertake the necessary refresher of their mandatory training This course will enable those attending to have satisfied the necessary components of the refresher training but also had an opportunity to reflect on best working practices and initiatives throughout the UK, as well as emerging practice issues.

 

By the end of the event, those attending will have:

  • Explored key areas of DSLO responsibility
  • Discussed relevant legislation and policy guidance, and been updated on recent changes
  • Considered current trends in safeguarding and the implications for their school or organisation
  • Explored emerging practice issues especially those around vulnerability, early intervention and what the future of safeguarding is likely to look like
  • Considered issues of best practice including creating safer workplaces, and understanding what prevents children and adults from talking about abuse or issues of concern; recording and sharing information
